I'm surprised you can ask that.  The answer is no.

It would undermine my business, my efforts, and my faith in what NewTek is
trying to accomplish.  They are well aware of the product that I produce,
and that any decision to adopt a similar--competitive--product and included it
in LightWave as part of the purchase price would seriously injure me.  What
if they suddenly decided to create a WaveFilter clone, or their own particle
animation system.  The results would be the same for other plugin and
third-party developers.

In the case of Sparks! and Particle Storm, these are two third-party developers
generating competition.  Neither of these systems is free, and each product
could potentially get better as a result of the competition WITHOUT
actually putting each company out of business.  However, imagine what would
happen if NewTek released LightWave 6.0 with a built-in particle animation
system:  Why would anybody want to *buy* one from a third party?

The serious LightWave third-party market is small enough already.  NewTek
has fostered this air of participation by creating a plugin architecture
and providing the SDK to serious developers.  Why step in and become a
competitor to the market you created?  What business strategy (and
personalities) would be behind such a decision?

However, at this junction, this is all academic.  I am personally trying to
get clarification from NewTek as to the import of this particular
announcement about Java.  My quoted comment was addressed to the speculative
nature of the original statement above it.
